Good Friday Experience

On Thursday, Jesus celebrated his final meal with his students, then walked with them through the grapevines of the Kidron Valley to the Garden of Gethsemane, where he prayed to his Father: “Not my will but yours be done.” Shortly afterward, he was betrayed by a close follower, dragged through a series of mock-trials in front of the Temple religious elite. On Friday, he was falsely accused before the Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate, beaten to within an inch of his life, and then crucified on a Roman cross outside the city of Jerusalem.
But Jesus was insistent: No one took his life from him; he laid it down willingly. And he did so, as he said, as a ransom for many. Or as John the Apostle put it: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him would not perish but have eternal life.”

The experience, which includes times for reflection, prayer, and receiving communion, lasts about 30 minutes and runs every half hour beginning at noon.
